SD Solar Homes Tour

is a CustomOneMap app Traveloggia Radio Edition

It uses Traveloggia to display a single map. Users of the app can browse map locations, photos, and contact info. Owners of the map can make edits to the web map which are broadcast to all users of the phone app. The app checks for updates every time it’s launched. It also stores a backup copy of the data in case of future access with no network connection.

Its a phone Finally!

Nov

Now available for FREE on Microsoft Marketplace ( in the travel category)  PAPAGAYO can be seen running on my – developer unlocked – windows phone.

The look has changed a bit from the original version which was perhaps too reminiscent of a pack of Marlboro cigarettes.  Inspired by, the late arriving to the Microsoft aresenal, panorama control, the background features none other than the sultry San Diego coast.

The Windows Phone 7 UI features “live tiles” which are icons, you can add, remove and reposition on the start screen.  Data can be pushed to the tiles as in the facebook implementation. Your friends’ profile pictures are randomly juggled.

Giving me ideas for useless widgets to allow people to publish their own tiles, pushing their own images.

Papagayo WP7 Translation App

Aug

The concept is a no brainer, with the new Bing Translation api. ( including text to speech) As usual microsoft is playing catchup with Google, neither is perfect.

This is the google rendition:
If you want to dance, Mr. Count,
my guitar will, yes,

The collective translation memory ( aka collaborative translations)  is, I think, a very interesting concept.  Google allows users to submit an alternate translation, which is then evaluated by “them”.  Microsoft proposes something even more interesting.  A local translation memory arbitrated by the owner of the website.

The feature is available “by invitation”

Papagayo name stolen from a very local spot http://lepapagayoleucadia.com/

“Users can edit/select or report the automatic translations to better fit the content and site owners have final say in picking the best translation for their content. Users in a community help other users and the community owner, and one community helps another community as sentences repeat. The APIs enable any developer to take advantage of the power of collaboration, and can tap into the wisdom of their crowd(s) across multiple scenarios.”
